Abstract
The leprosy has a long history among human beings, which is distributed in many countries through the world.
In this study, we analyzed in order to expose the relations between the onset of leprosy and deformity, sensory loss of nerve, site of amputee, the onset . of deformity of hands and feet, and joint motion on the each joint.
A total of 78 cases are included, who were treated at the National Medical Center from 1961 to 1976.
The results are concluded as follows
1. Sex ratio of male to female showed 1.9 : 1.
2. By age at the onset of the disease, the highest rate was in the age 10-19 (61.50)
3. By age at the deformity of hands and feet, the highest rate was in the age 10-19, and as for the duration between the onset of disease and deformity, the highest rate accounted for 37% in hand deformity and 33% in foot deformity in 0-1 yrs.
4. In the frequency of sensory loss in hand, uinar N showed 51.8%, radial N 16.0% and median N 14.2%
5. As for the hand deformity, claw hand showed 62.8%, wrist drop 12.800 ape hand 8.0561 and mixed type 15.4%,
6. The frequency of amputee of digit showed middle, index and ring finger, and as for the site of amputee, the highest rate was 600 on the distal to the DIP joint.
7. As for the severe restriction of joint motion in hand deformity, ring finger showed 26.7%, little 26.1% index 23.70, and middle 23.4% in frequency, and the most site of severe restriction of joint motion was PIP joint (50. 1%).
8. The rate of foot drop among foot deformity showed 43.5%.
